very locked, as are all churches in south essex. this n.e.chapelseems c16, but all of the exterior of this church is of 1866, including fenestration

a c15? head over the west door, just about the only original carving here.

most of the exterior of this church dates from the rebuild of 1866. the area must have been nice and remote until around then, now the villages are mostly ugly and depressing, with the churches locked and unloved

c13 round tower, with top and most of the church dating from the 1866 rebuild

n.w.doorway, originally late c12, but restored heavily in 1866, and locked of course. south essex is depressing for anyone who likes churches.
