late c7 celtic grave marker, the left hand portion says deniel son of ...auprit lies here, the other says iudnerth son of qu... both are written on roman stones, and would have been fixed upright as tall pillars in the graveyard here.

this is the quite well defined ionic type base moulding on one of two 20ft. tall columns that stand in the crypt, they are those that carried the triple arched chancel screen of the now ruined church at reculver. they date from the founding of the church in 669

two 20ft. tall columns stand in the crypt, they are those that carried the triple arched chancel screen of the now ruined church at reculver. they date from the founding of the church in 669. the capitals are simplified block capitals, not yet quite as defined as cushion capitals.
