royal arms of charles 2 designed by richard wallis of the painter stainers company. part of c17 window from the parish clerks hall in silver street prob fitted c.1690 . removed during the war, now in the museum of london. the company of parish clerks is a city company without livery, their clerical attire being deemed to predate and preclude it. there are about 150 churches within the area of their remit, many have been destroyed over the centuries but still have parish clerks and wards.
