slate slab split and cut on site. I like working with slate; there's no waste as you just cut it to fit. if one bit's too dull, just split some more off the face. of course, sometimes the whole piece crumbles to dust when you hit it, and you can't use it if it's too thin or too thick, the wall won't take the weight. more fun than marble, and you can think you're at the seaside. . .

made from heavy brazilian slate slabs split and cut on site using bolster, chisel, saw. the slate as purchased is too heavy for the walls, if you splitit down the edge you get at least twice as much stone....
