On maida avenue, this irvingite church is one of few stll open to believers, but they do not welcome photographers. An odd anachronism, this bunch are rich due to gifts from victorian believers and still own some massive churches and much other property in england and scotland, and remain secretive and apocalyptic. The church here is by pearson 1891-3. I did once gain entry, but the caretaker was adamant that no photos should be taken, and was unwilling to discuss the beliefs of a sect whose apostles died a century ago without having seen the expected end of the world.

this 1891 pearson church on maida avenue is still irvingite, and does not allow interior photos. a seeming anachronism, this bunch are rich due to their past and still own some cathedral sized churches some of which they lease out due to falling numbers of believers since the death of their last apostle.

on maida avenue this church is still used by its irvingite owners, a shrinking eschatological group, rich in property and builders of some of the most splendid cathedral sized churches of the c 19th . one wonders what will happen to it all when they reach the last believer. probably end up in lawyers pockets.
