the clock was made by thomas harris in 1671 for the original mediaeval church; the figures of wild men cudgel the bells and move their heads on the quarters. this was the first clock in town to have a minute hand. the new church was built by shaw in 1829-33, and for a century the clock, figures and aedicule sat in regent's park over towards lord's, 'til brought back in 1935.
