Whilst this is a great building for the work of Bodley in 1859 with all of its pre-raphaelite artwork, the Burges work suffers from the lack of the master's hand in the detail, having been built late in the c19 after his death.

By Worral to a Lonsdale design of c.1895 , this window is indicative of the problems from which the Burges extension suffers, i.e.the death of Billy Burges 12 years before building began. To see what effect he had on such a design see the Jesse at Winscombe, Somerset where the lancets are tight bright jewels singing like angels in the shadowy chancel.
