the height of c14 elegance, with touches of the original colour, but robbed of the metal details from his shoulder, brow and gloves .

Animated gloves on legs ; some of the more unusual babewyns found on misericords. And again look at how the hinges pass behind the branches etc.

Study the hinges! And why has the face of the gryllus been smashed - he's no angel or saint. Maybe just too disturbing for someone. In every way these misericords are unlike others; structure, design, imagery all appear unique. No others have this exact central support, or triangular section to the side tails, or seat shape, or long hinges behind the carving, or these surreal animated gloves. The closest are perhaps those from st.nicholas, king's lynn, and they are considerably later in date.

the arcades of the c14 nave are on a scale to suit the regal work at the east end, but there money seems to have run out, with a somewhat impoverished clerestory setting small lights above the columns, allowing a lower roof.

The east chancel window dates from about 1300 and evolved from the east window of prior Crauden's chapel at Ely

As this is covered with thick paint it is difficult to know how much is wood and how much victorian wishful thinking, but interesting for position of hands.

a wooden figure, not that this is obvious at first sight as the effigy is covered with some foul paint that made me think it a fibreglass copy . Prob.c.1300

This female saint [Mary?] has the elegant s-curve common in the early C14. This may be a figure from an annunciation or crucifixion.

C14th forged hinge on door of rood screen: the congregation spent little time in the chancel which was the domain and concern of the priest; the doors were bolted shut generally.

Beautiful rinceaux patterns delineate the chevrons on his surcoat, and colour remains on the medallions on his belt . the holes on his wrist probably mark metal fittings.
