foundation stone and dedication inscription of 1877 to anne maitland , married to the architect nesfield's cousin, and sister to the rev. j.w.maitland, for whom nesfield built loughton hall behind the church.

church built 1876-7 by nesfield, who built the hall next door for the vicar. site of the original parish church, replacing the old chancel, it having been retained at first as a mortuary chapel. the church retains glass and fittings from the old church. not open.
