The tūī is a boisterous medium-sized bird native to New Zealand. It is blue, green, and bronze colored with a distinctive white throat tuft. It is an endemic passerine bird of New Zealand, and the only species in the genus Prosthemadera. Wikipedia H.A.N.W.E.

There is a street in Tokoroa that has many boxes, similar to this one, along the edge of the footpath . Each has a N.Z. native bird painted on it. I'm not sure, but I think they are some sort of meter box.

The tui is a New Zealand native bird with a varied and lovely song. It was called the parson bird because of the white tuft of feathers at its neck.
