Wrapping myself in A blanket of hope, I turn once more To the shore, And soak in The silence Of years. The rebellion Of sand Beneath my feet Works its Soft inhibition. From now on I'll watch the tide Forever.

Shivering out of the water, Between oceans I used to wait, Wondering if hope would become Stronger or weaker. But no longer. Now I stay on dry land, and The waves don't pull me under.

Perhaps it is Too late For the hope Of summer When half a Lifetime divides. Memories sparkle In the sun only From a distance. Nonetheless, The heart Still yearns. But now the day Is fading.

Have I met you In days long gone, Passing through? Dimly remembered Before time frowned Into evening? A memory In symmetry On the shoreline Or on a distant hill Looking west? The breeze Wanders through The years. Lifting the decades On the air, To youth. Meeting but not meeting Until the end.

Was it you walking Behind me Under blue skies, Before the day Turned to evening? Shapes on The shoreline. A dream once vivid. Moments That came to pass, And then forgotten, Until sadness Whispered them to life.
