Wer kennt diese Gegenstände noch? :-) Mein persönliches Rechenzentrum. War bis Anfang der Achzigerjahre noch im Gebrauch. Heute wissen vermutlich nicht mehr allzuviele, wie man die Teile überhaupt gebraucht. :-) ➽ PIP 1: Die Fünfstelligen Logarithmentafeln der Winkelfunktionen. Zum Ermitteln von Zehnerlogarithmen, trigonometrischen Funktionen, Quadrat- und Kubikzahlen, Kehrwerten, und vieles mehr. ➽ PIP 2: Additions- und Subtraktionsmaschine Piccolo-S. Zeigt momentan den Wert 1'956 als Resultat einer Addition oder Subtraktion an. Rechts im Halter befindet sich der Stift, mit dem man die Zahlen auf der Zahnstange verschoben hat. ➽ PIP 3: Rechenschieber. Durch Addition/Subtraktion von Logarithmen von Zahlen können Multiplikationen/Divisionen durchgeführt werden. In der Anzeige: 1,6 x 2,3 = 3,68 (unterste Skala). Weiter kann in dieser Einstellung abgelesen werden: 3,68² = 13,54 (zweitoberste Skala) 3,68³ = 49,84 (oberste Skala) log 3,68 = 0,5658 (unterste Skala) 18,4 PS = 13,54 kW [1 PS=0,736 kW] (rote Skala oben auf dem Schieber) 4,16 PS = 3,06 kW (rote Skala unten auf dem Schieber)

Have a guess! (brain teaser) Imagine pulling a rope around the globe (which is a perfect sphere) and tensing the rope tight. Now you add 10 meters to the rope and distribute the rope around the globe so that it is equidistant from the globe (see sketch above). ➽ What is the distance x between the globe and the rope? ➽ Do you think it is enough height for a fly to crawl down through? Answer: In the calculation above you can see that the distance is 1,59 m!! And the astonishing point is: You can do the same with an orange (fruit) and it will give the same result!! Well, mathematically not really remarkable, but imaginatively it's astonishing! :-) ... and there is an additional point that you may have noticed: on the globe above GB is missing.
