This photo, I am pleased to say, won third prize in the Brighton Argus newspaper's One Day in Summer competition - 2016. Unfortunately the reproduction on newsprint wasn't the best.

One of only two native species of Iris. They will be out again soon, I hope, although the pond's volunteers have gone a bit mad with the strimmer in recent months.

This was a single tiny flower head in the hedgerow. Apparently they often come in much larger groups. Perhaps this was the forerunner of a larger patch.

These are the first Cowslips that I have seen this year. There are usually large numbers on the Downs near Beachy Head.

This escapee from cultivation is becoming something of a weed in some areas.
