This is the original design. It was not fully realised as the funds were insufficient. The structures in front of the main building were either scaled down or deleted from the final design. One can see the current appearance from photographs of the current building in my Bexhill-on-Sea album.

What you mean civil servants' accommodation doesn't have cellars, lofts or garages full of useful bits and bobs like this? Actually we are likely to need far more representatives over there than we did before, as they wrangle over every detail of trade, security and transport agreements.

This wasn't intended to be an optical illusion, but largely due to the way the handrail and the stairway's wall diverge, one gets the impression that the stairway is going down as it turns right. The steps themselves say otherwise. (For the 'Time for Experiments' group) Whether this is an experiment is a moot point. It is the first time that I have produced something with an element of optical illusion to it - but it was by accident.
