Newhaven wreck 20 8 2023

An up-date on this sad old wreck, partially cut up for salvage and then left to rust away. Given the current state of the mooring lines I do wonder if on a high tide it could just slide into the channel. Fortunately it is not a much used waterway.

This old wreck has appeared several times before, but I wanted a view with bits of bicycles for a group contribution.

A wider view of the area is at www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/27522937 Comparing the two dated images, the use of this bike park has obviously taken off. Both would have been taken during working hours and both are out of the colder weather times of year.

A digital daubing. I have no idea whose responsibility this wreck is. It has obviously been a house boat at some point. To get it out - if it is water tight - it would have to be towed all the way round Denton Island, as the clearance under the bridge is too tight. As it is it is an eye-sore; more because of the junk stacked on its deck than the boat itself.
