The Dad, with the child on his shoulders, nearly got a soaking from the next wave. The Orca had spent several days dredging Newhaven Harbour.

I like the way the water, draining back down the shingle beach, makes a lacy pattern as the light from the sinking Sun reflects up from it.

The odd shape, just right of centre, is a group of three gulls swooping around together.

The ferry is going astern leaving the port. Only in bad weather do they make the tricky manoeuvre of turning through 180 degrees in the harbour, to exit bow first.

These curious little clouds appear in a series of shots and are too slow moving to be birds and indeed are obviously too far away for them to be that. They do move over the sequence and are not reflections within the camera lenses. I guess they are the final manifestation of a jet plane contrail, but if you have other ideas.....

Ferries back out, having loaded through the bow, swing around the lighthouse and make a sweeping arc, initially heading southeast, then pulling away from the coast opposite Cuckmere Haven and turning to the southwest. Well sometimes that's their route - other times they take a much sharper turn, having rounded the light.
