Brighton and Hove buses name their buses after local celebrities and those who have contributed to the community. Their website lists all the buses and gives the stories behind the dedications.

These are hybrid powered buses. It seems to be a tradition for bus and coach drivers to acknowledge each other as their vehicles pass on the road. One of the buses going the other way was overtaking the one at the bus stop, the driver of which would have been boarding his passengers, and so not aware of his colleagues 'thumbs up'.
