The aperture at the bow makes this look like a cable layer. The reinforcement where the anchor cable is paid out is another clue, I guess. Any thoughts?

Nothing else was moving on this foggy day - clearly a determined canoeist and his support team, who all seem rather young and perhaps not so keen about being out in the damp, foggy atmosphere!

This view looks down the River Adur, which at this point runs parallel with the sea. If you could see through the mist you would be looking towards Shoreham Harbour and Portslade. The channel to the sea is a few hundred yards beyond the buildings on the right.

It wasn't just me mad enough to come out and snap away on a day like this. The seagull obviously decided the fog would impede his fishing, because he came along eyeing up our chips a bit later.
