It wasn't until I wanted to caption these photos that I learnt the correct names for the two smaller towers at either end of the bridge - abutment towers.

This was taken during the Tower Bridge Experience visit, when access to the high-level walkway was part of the Experience.

The River Buses are not designed for sight-seeing. Most of the accommodation is inside the cabin, with only a small area at the stern that is open. That area can get crowded at times when the weather is good and this snap was taken while I turned around on the bench seat at the back. This is why the picture was taken at an angle. I could have cropped it down to make a neat horizontal view, but some interesting bits would have been lost!

All the major routes into the historic centre of London - the City of London - have the City's heraldic Arms displayed in one form or another.

Tidy Thames collects floating debris from the river and its shoreline. Its low profile means it can pass under the bridges at any state of the tides.

1990 - following bus privatisation London bus companies had to hire buses from other parts of the country to provide services for their new franchises - in this case a Sheffield Mainline-branded, South Yorkshire Transport bus on route 78 crosses Tower Bridge on its way from Shoreditch to Peckham and beyond.
