Canada Goose on its nest - Cuckmere - update - 11.…

The nest is on an island, so is relatively safe from land-based predators. I wasn't around long enough to see whether a parent returned or whether the eggs had been abandoned. There weren't any Canada Geese in view in the fields near the nest.
Nest of a Canada Goose - Cuckmere - 21.5.2015

The nest is on a small island, in a pond, to one side of the Cuckmere River. I don't know whether this is a natural feature or a man-made one, but it does provide a degree of protection from predators, such as foxes. (Or do foxes swim?)
Egyptian Goose - Exceat - 23.3.2015

This looks like an Egyptian Goose. Its companion is almost certainly a Canada Goose, of which there are a fair number in this area. However the Egyptian, if that is what it is, looks larger than the Canada, which shouldn't be the case, I believe. I took much closer photos of Egyptian Geese at Reading recently and they were smaller. www.ipernity.com/doc/philsutters/37266778
