In the mist at Seaford Head - 3.9.2013

This made me think of Victorian etchings, that were often hand-coloured after printing. I Photoshopped this one, to give a bit of definition to the masses of chalk. I put a layer with poster edging under the main picture and reduced the opacity of the main until it looked OK, to me at least.

Two layers of the previous photo - the top one was reversed and the two were 'multiplied' in Photoshop Elements.

Tate & Lyle sugar factory - London - 26.5.2015

This was constructed from two distant shots taken from inside a Docklands Light Railway train. The buildings' background was a plain sky, so the piles of digitally created sugar were added for my own amusement.

Cleome

02 Oct 2018 1 212
This is an experiment in at least two ways. I had never grown Cleome, until this summer, when I came across some plants in a self-service, roadside stall in a village near Lewes. They have done really well. They are strange flowers. They grow out from the centre and as each ring of flowers dies off they form the long seeds, that look like little sparklers. The second bit of experimentation is that the photo was one of the first taken by me on a 'smart' phone. Thirdly it is the first upload direct from said smart phone, which is why it is a bit fuzzy - no sharpening. I am sure that there are apps to process images on the phone, but I am struggling to find my way around the basics!

Having seen a railway poster for a seaside resort, I thought I would try to reproduce the 'look'.

Level 3 Tate Modern mono 12 4 2018

28 Apr 2018 214
Every so often an image seems to work better in mono. This one looked a bit bland in colour. The contrasting light and shade are more evident in black & white. It is always worth having a look at an image in more than one way. Changing to mono can be done several ways in Photoshop - using some presets or just using the saturation slider.

One of, if not the, first shots taken with the panoramic setting on my compact camera, spurred on by seeing the panoramic shots my grand-daughter was taking on her fairly basic smart phone.

Two 'brushes' from "Whats_The_Point__by_Nose_Meat " were used for this image - probably downloaded free from Photoshop Creative magazine.

No, I haven't any idea either!

The sugar rush from one too many squares of Lidl's Rich Milk Chocolate is to blame, I think! It emanated from thinking that the previous mono marble picture should be installed in an impressive building's entrance atrium (wasn't it a foyer when I was growing up?) Clearly these are arty types heading in to an avant garde musical happening, or perhaps a new gallery opening.

Royal Pavilion Brighton - photo by Mike Sutters -…

two Brighton subjects worked into one image The gulls were taken looking down from the Grand Pier. I can't remember what effects went into this. Posterisation and a goodly dose of saturation would be my guess.

This started as another unattributed photo of a woman on the net. I doubt she would recognize herself from this Photoshopped version, but if she does / you do I hope it meets with her/your approval. - Oh and thanks for your beautiful image that I have messed up!
