I initially thought that the machine on the right was a typewriter, but it appears to have a strip of paper or card running into it from the right. The other machine, which I think is the same one as in another of this batch of photos., looks a bit like an adding or accounting machine I have seen somewhere.

I am fairly sure that this was taken on the Cathedral Close lawns, at the rear of the Broad Street houses, which were demolished in the 1930s, to improve the view of the Cathedral. One of them was the Pritchard's house. I have compared the roofline seen here with the well known photo* of the front of the houses. They seem to match fairly well, although the angles of viewing are very different.

I now realise that I should have put 1921 as the date on the caption. Although this photo wasn't dated, it was obviously taken at the same time as the similar one dated 1921.

The next few photos are from Marjory Pritchard's photo album. They are probably of more interest to the family than the general viewer, but they throw a bit of light on a middle class family in the 1920s.
