Lullington from the Cuckmere River - 11.6.2015

The river is in the gap between the two nearest lines of grass. It's a good few feet down at this time of year and not very wide at this point.

Lambs sheltering on Seaford Head - 14.3.2016

The prevailing south-westerlies have pushed this bush towards the north-east - but on this occasion the cold wind was blowing from the north-east. So these little lambs were using it as a windbreak. The coloured numbers identify the lambs' parents, until the farmer has time to fit ear-tags for identification.

I'm afraid I am always causing delays and diversions to try to get a shot of this or that!

It's not all sheep in the South Downs!

More sky than scenery in this one, but that's often the way up on top of the South Downs.

Sandwiched between the small ferry port of Newhaven and the South Downs, this is the estuary plain of the Sussex Ouse. This on the very edge of the South Downs National Park, in England.

I am not sure whether this was an aerator or a harrow. It seemed to be punching holes in the grass. That was, I assume, to deal with compacting caused by people and livestock walking on it. It certainly left it a bit lumpy to walk on. I walked down across the field in the top left photo, so I know!

This is the old village of Telscombe. Among the trees is an ancient church & rectory. I didn't have time on this visit, which was itself well overdue, to go down into the village and photograph close-up. Next time I shall probably try to walk down through the village and on to Southease. Telscombe town is a more recent development along the A259 coast road to the east of Brighton. It is behind the camera and over the hill from this location.
