Völklinger Hütte, a former ironworks, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994 thanks to its authentically preserved ironworks. One look at Völklinger ironworks, and you will feel as if you have come to a science fiction studio setup. Visitors can stroll along a 5,000 metre walkway past the huge machinery and furnaces of the early 20th century. There’s also a science centre on site.

The Buddha Museum in Traben-Trarbach, which opened its doors in 2009, is home to an impressive collection of around 2000 Buddha figures.
