It was a very hazy day when I visited, so the photos from 100 metres up didn't turn out well. This view shows a silhouette of the tower over the adjacent railway station, with the Historic Dockyard behind.

The Spinnaker Tower is easily visible from Gosport on the other side of the harbour

Portsmouth Harbour is busy with lots of small vessels as well as frequent ferries across The Solent to the Isle of Wight

The frequent ferry service over to Gosport gives a good view of the Historic Dockyard, including HMS Warrior. Reading the website, I find that this was Britain’s first iron-hulled, armoured battleship and was launched in 1860.
