Ascending Mount Scott and looking west back towards Crater Lake. Mount Mazama was here until it erupted and suffered a caldera collapse 7,700 years ago. Leaving the 6 mile diameter Crater Lake in its place.

This is in the McKenzie Pass area of Oregon. On the hike back to the trailhead after going to the top of Belknap Crater. Behind the lava field you see the summit of Mount Washington.

Should I go straight towards Mount Hood? Left to Canada? Or right to Mexico? How many hours of daylight remain? I chose to head towards Mexico. Bizarrely, after walking about 1/4th of a mile towards Mexico, there was another one of these signs, and despite walking away from Canada, the mileage had dropped to 548.
