Looking north while hiking along Tam McArthur Rim in central Oregon. Mount Jefferson (volcano) is the peak in the middle poking above the horizon. The low level haze is a mix of morning fog and forest fire smoke.

This is in the McKenzie Pass area of Oregon. On the hike back to the trailhead after going to the top of Belknap Crater. Behind the lava field you see the summit of Mount Washington.

Should I go straight towards Mount Hood? Left to Canada? Or right to Mexico? How many hours of daylight remain? I chose to head towards Mexico. Bizarrely, after walking about 1/4th of a mile towards Mexico, there was another one of these signs, and despite walking away from Canada, the mileage had dropped to 548.
