A Happy Bench(ish) Monday to all. I hope your week begins well and gradually improves as the days pass until it achieves the status of “spectacular”. This may look like a soft and comfortable sofa, but the Old Owl rear end will attest to its hardness. It (the bench not my bum) sits behind the Sutton Street Hall in Mandurah, a fibro building which was a Presbyterian Church way back in ancient times (early 20th century, I think) and is now a Multicultural Services Centre. [UPDATE Actually it was a Methodist Chapel and is newer than I thought, being constructed in 1940.). The bench, of course, is new. I think this looks better seen larger and on a dark background. Please press Z to see whether you agree. (PS Sorry about the crappy car park.)

Sorry I've not been around for a while. My venerable iMac turned up its toes in March - even Apples must die sometime (sniff, sniff), but now I've got a new one (thanks to She who not only Must Be Obeyed but who has money she's willing to spend on me) so I can waste everyone's time again.

A Happy Bench Monday to all. These seats at the Busselton Jetty are apparently made from plastic bags! I know nothing about the whys and wherefores of this, about how such things are done, or whether someone scours the waste bins of the nation for discarded bags. But I welcome something being done with the curséd things! Have a lovely Monday and I hope the week is not too onerous. (And good luck to all who are suffering storms in Europe and freezing cold in the USA. Meanwhile some of us in the Land Down Under are roasting.)

Two benches for the price of one. A veritable bargain. Happy Bench (x2) Monday to everyone. Wherever you are, I hope you have some time to sit and enjoy the day. These two benches are on Hampton Street, the main street through the small and delightful town of Bridgetown WA.

HWW everyone. Tonight (21st June 2023) is the longest night for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere. I believe for those in the north it is the longest day. Whatever it is, enjoy every moment that you can (and stoically tolerate any bad ones that may peep their heads up). Love to all.

This blue tree is in the small town of Trayning, WA. There are a number of trees painted blue in country Western Australia which attempt to draw attention to the importance of mental health and the high number of suicides amongst farmers and young people in WA. There is a Blue Tree Project website (https://www.bluetreeproject.com.au) which explains more clearly than I can. There is also a national organisation called Beyond Blue which tries to help those with suicidal ideation and their families. We should always ask each other: “Are you OK?” and be prepared to listen to the answer.
