Red Cross Way, Southwark. I thought these were encouraging words left over from the war (the South Bank was pretty heavily bombed in the blitz), but it turns out that it's an advert for Courage Ale. As seen in the film "O Lucky Man."

Dickens Walk in Southwark. www.walksoflondon.co.uk/31/index.shtml It was on the steps of the old bridge that Nancy’s fateful meeting with Mr Brownlow and Rose Maylie took place in Oliver Twist. Here she betrayed Fagin, Sikes and Monks and was overheard by Noah Claypole. When Sikes learned what she had done, he murdered her at his house in Bethnal Green, not on the steps of the bridge, as the plaque on the wall (which I couldn't find) states wrongly. It was to the White Hart Inn that Mr Pickwick followed Alfred Jingle and Rachel Wardle, following their elopement, and in so doing first met with Sam Weller in Pickwick Papers.
