This is a piece of public art in Hoxton Street made by Bob and Roberta Smith (the pseudonym of artist Patrick Brill) in 2006 as part of the Shoreditch Festival whose theme was Shop Local. There were originally five similar works, but I think only two survive today. More info here .

Rather crooked job of installing these tiles. Note that "NW3" was added to each road at a later date (and in different fonts).

These terraces are often used as filming locations, particularly as a substitute for Notting Hill. The exterior shots for Line of Beauty were filmed here.
