Light was waning and this was the final place on the guided walk of the Hidden River Fleet where we could get a glimpse of it, still flowing in a subterranean pipe here outside The Coach at the junction of Warner Street and Ray Street in Clerkenwell. The Fleet rises on Hampstead Heath and makes a zigzag course south to the Thames. It no longer flows above ground, having been contained in subterranean pipes, but you can still follow its course.
