Community memorial to the 72 people who lost their lives in the fire in 2017.

There was a major fire here, with significant loss of life, in 2017. The tower block, owned by Kensington and Chelsea Council, is now sheathed in plastic while they figure out what to do with it. Knocking it down will be difficult as it's full of toxic substances.

Taken at the beginning of the 2008 global economic crisis. In a different economic climate, when the rich were getting richer and everyone else was slogging through the muck, this could have been a metaphor for capitalists protecting their wealth by denying access to it. But now, what does it mean? Maybe capitalism is in a prison of its own making.
