The bridge overlooking Viaduct Pond was built between 1844 and 1847 by Sir Thomas Maryon Wilson, who owned a chunk of Hampstead Heath at the time. His plan was to open a housing development of grand villas and have the viaduct bridge as its approach. Fortunately for the rest of us, legislation was passed to preserve the Heath as open space and the villas weren't built, but this lovely bridge remains. The architect was Joseph Gwilt. It's Grade II listed.
