The lovely, slender spire of All Hallows by the Tower pointing skyward and the hulking, sore thumb of 20 Fenchurch (a.k.a. the Walkie Talkie) looming over the City of London.

Formerly the Willis Building, being converted to a luxury hotel now that Willis Insurance has moved to its new building in Lime Street. 10 Trinity Square was built in 1922 to house the Port of London Authority. See where this picture was taken. [?]

The oldest church in the City of London. Several American connections -- William Penn was baptised here, and John Quincy Adams married here. All Hallows survived the Great Fire through the efforts of Wm. Penn's father. It fared worse in WWII, and only the tower and the walls survived the bombs. Under Tower Bridge. Bodies were dumped into the Thames here -- easier to do at high tide, natch. I found this on the internets : "Before Tower Bridge was built, a ferry ran from Horselydown Steps, near the southern foot of today's bridge, to a point on the north bank known as Dead Man's Hole - so called because the ferrymen operated a lucrative sideline taking corpses across the river. The reason was simple. Bart's Hospital, on the north side, paid 6d more for the bodies used for medical research than Guy's Hospital on the south." See where this picture was taken. [?]
