This plaque was installed just before my visit -- I'd heard about it on BBC Radio London. John Hearn (aka Ernie) is a local resident and community activist who worked to preserve the foreshore at Gabriel's Wharf from development. Now, the proposed Garden Bridge threatens to mess up the whole area.
