Bright sunlight makes it hard to read the plaque. It says: "In medieval times this was an unconsecrated graveyard for prostitutes or "Winchester Geese." By the 18th century it had become a paupers' burial ground, which closed in 1853. Here local people have created a memorial shrine. Unconsecrated burial ground of prostitutes, paupers and other outcasts. The memorial shrine is on an iron gate in front of a lot filled with construction materials. I read somewhere that the shrine may be torn down soon. See where this picture was taken. [?]
