Seen in Island Street in the Liberties, Dublin.
Sign reads: Moira House stood here for over 60 years before the top floor was knocked and it became the two storey Mendicity Institution that 28 Irish Volunteers occupied in Easter Week 1916 led by Sean Heuston, executed for his part in The Rising. The old Mendo was destroyed in the early 1950s.
The Mendicity Institution was a charity that worked to ease poverty and begging. Info on the history here: www.mendicity.org/history

Bullet damage on the columns of the GPO, O'Connell Street, Dublin

You can still see where the bullets hit the facade of the GPO in O'Connell Street. During the Easter Rising in 1916, the republican volunteers used the GPO as their headquarters. Outside, the police and the army were shooting and lobbing bombs into the building. The interior burned, but the facade remains, bullet holes and all. Inside, it's been rebuilt with beautiful wood, brass and marble -- a grand place to post a letter. There's a little museum about the Easter Rising inside, but we skipped it.

Statue of James Connolly, one of the primary participants in the Easter Rising of 1916, outside the Falls Community Council. The base reads:
Trade union organiser, Socialist, Internationalist
and one of the leaders of the Easter Rising in 1916.
Connolly along with his family lived among the working people
of Belfast and helped organise Catholics, Protestants and
dissenters to fight together for the common class interests.
Born in Edingurgh 5 June 1868, he was executed by firing squad
in Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin, 12 May 1916,
for his part in the Easter Rising.

Mural commemorating the centenary of the Easter Rising of 1916, located at the junction of Beechmount Avenue and the Falls Road. There's an additional street sign marking this as RPG Street due to the use of rocket-propelled grenades by the IRA in the area.

Another mural commemorating the women who participated in the Easter Rising of 1916. The main figure is Countess Constance Markievicz, who took part in the fighting in Dublin. She was captured and sentenced to death, but unlike Connolly and the others, her sentence was commuted on account of her gender. She was elected to the House of Commons in 1918 but, like other members of Sinn Fein, she did not take her seat in the Palace of Westminster. She was also the first woman in the world to hold a cabinet position (Minister for Labour of the Irish Republic, 1919–1922).

Part of the International Wall in Divis Street. This portion was repainted by Danny Devenny in 2016 to mark the centenary of the Easter Rising of 1916. The woman depicted in the middle of this section is Countess Constance Markievicz. The guy on the right is Joe Gleeson (from Liverpool -- see the liverbird badge on his bandolier).
