There are several stories that, on a visit to Bath, Bishop Oliver King had a dream in which he "saw the Heavenly Host on high with angels ascending and descending by ladder" which is now represented on the west front of the cathedral.

Stone carving of a bishop's mitre, olive tree and crown = Bishop Oliver King who restored Bath Abbey in the early 1500s. It was completed in 1539.
