The contents of the house were meticulously inventoried throughout its 400 year occupancy, so the history of every bit of furniture, object, painting, piece of clothing, etc., is recorded.

Ham House was built in 1610, and was in the same family for 400 years before the National Trust acquired it. Used as "Hailsham House" in the film Never Let Me Go.

The alley leads from Melancholy Walk to Ham Road. The wall of Ham House is on the right. I couldn't find any info on how the alley got its name.

If it hadn't been so hazy, we would have seen the dome of St Paul's through this arch in the greenery. It's a protected view. We could just make out the dome through the scope.
