Happy name-day, Dad! Your portfolio @Ipernity is still there . A name day is a tradition in some countries in Europe and the Americas, and Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox countries in general. It consists of celebrating a day of the year that is associated with one's given name. The celebration is similar to a birthday. Traditionally, name day celebrations (Polish: imieniny) have enjoyed a celebratory emphasis greater than that of birthday celebrations in parts of Poland. However, birthday celebrations are increasingly popular and important, particularly among the younger generations. Imieniny involve the gathering and socializing of friends and family at the celebrant's home, as well as the giving of gifts and flowers at home and elsewhere, such as at the workplace. Local calendars often contain the names celebrated on a given day. For many years there used to be a big party on my Dad's name day. I miss them now. I miss my Dad so much. So today I went to his grave, put some fresh flowers (hopefully he accepts my choice of colors this time - he always liked dark violet and purple ones). I also told him to keep a vigil eye on lanterns - very traditional vigil candles. It is up to him to keep them burning in spite of rains and storms passing by.

No Happy Fence from me today, folks. It's All Saints' Day - Solemnity of All Saints does not go well with HFF. So yesterday I put some grave lanterns and fresh flowers on my Dad's grave. I didn't dare to ask if he liked them. He always preferred pink and purple ones ;) But as he visits me in my dreams at least twice a month, I am sure to be subjected to his opinion on my choice of colors... one of these nights... :o
