My Private Jungle

Heatwave, drought... Everybody around is complaining.
My neighbors try to save their gardens and they fail.
I am not.
I didn't water my garden even once this year.
You see, in several past years my neighbors raised their properties areas and that why I am flooded every time when heavy rains come.
Their water (and fertilizers) come down to my garden.
Plants in my private jungle are thriving now.
Revenge is so sweet!

Another specimen from my late Dad's 'collection' - hibiskus blooming every year with multiple gorgeous hot red flowers. It stopped blooming after Dad had passed away.
I care for it. It looks healthy and has beautiful green leaves but not a single flower since that time.

Once upon a time...
Garden poppies invaded my garden. They were everywhere. They were killing my Mom's favorite lilies.
I eventually managed to get rid of them.
Now I know that I should have let them stay.
Lilies are almost gone (all but one). Goat weed is thriving.

Another sample of my late Dad's favorite flowers - fuchsias this time.
They were hanging around our house and Dad managed to keep them appropriately watered.
But this shot was taken just after a summer rain.

Ipernity is so colorful these days that I decided to add something crazy: floating tulips.
Weird DoF but that's what my smartphone concocted :)

Epiphyllum Ackermanii
- my Dad's favorite flowers.
They used to bloom in July (for his name day: July 20).
Dad cared for them for many years.
Then (when he was getting older) he neglected them and eventually put them in a far corner of a garden shed.
More than a year after Dad had passed away I found three pots of them there.
They seemed to be totally dead but I took a piece of one and planted it in fresh soil and pot.
It took several months to see it awakening and in May this year it produced its first flower.
But this is a shot of my Dad's flowers taken 17 years ago.

Days are now so short, cold and dark
that instead of going out with a camera
I am browsing my digital archives...

My trumpet wine has certainly got my attention with this!
It didn't want to bloom in spite of me caring, pruning, feeding it...
This year I neglected it totally.
Then I got flowers and now some seed pods.
Allegedly they (seed pods) are very rarely seen in Poland, and if so then in the western, warmer part of our country...
Oh well...

I still have to learn how to care about these flowers and other houseplants around me. It was my Dad's task to maintain them and he made a great job of it. I don't...
