'Mediocre' doesn't quite fit. I was looking for something a bit lower on the scale.

Buy what you like (no processed junk food please), chop it up, throw it into a pot, add butter, preferred herbs, pepper and salt, let the meat / bacon brown a bit, add water, turn down the heat, cover, let simmer for about 45 minutes. Couldn't be easier than that.
