Dial set to AWG-28. Insert the wire, press the yellow levers and pull. Works very reliably, if the thickness is set correctly.

The depth gauge is a nice feature. It works very well with the AWG-30 wire-wrap material I have. Stripping stranded wire works too. No problem with solid-core "bread-board" wire as well.
