It's happened to me before that I've had LCDs with stuck pixels (not whole lines). I could fix my laptop's screen by physically hitting these pixels a few times. Guess what, it helped my calculator as well. I whacked it several times on all kinds of spots, changed the contrast back and forth and was lucky. First only one line was revived, after more whacking the second line sprung back to life as well.

I haven't used it for ages. Unfortunately 2 lines are broken. I tried twisting the case a bit and also opened it up to wiggle the LCD connector, but no success.

I wonder if there's an update for the software... I don't remember registering it though. Most likely you'd need a 'special' cable for 100$ for that as well.
