Sealing my door to keep the FRIGGIN' paint smell out of my place.

It's just a few days before XMAS, it is COLD and there is SNOW. Perfect ! What does our FRIGGIN' property management do? They send us HOARDS of painters to refurbish the stairway and the outsides of all apartment doors. Me asks: "Will it stink a lot?" Dude: "No no, not to worry!" -- this sounds like a quote from Fawlty Towers Now... 2 days before XMAS I have a headache and as the rubber seals were removed from my door as well it chatters and STINKING AIR is pushed through the gaps 24/7. If I open my windows it gets even worse. Now I've sealed all of it with painter's tape. Smell gone, but I can't get out of my apartment anymore... WTF !!!!!

Even through the key hole... the STINK of paint wiggles through every single gap, no matter how small it may be.

After having removed the defective silly-cone cover, a plastic dome was revealed. It was more opaque as expected. Taking a closer look shows that nasty stuff must have evaporated (these things get quite hot inside) and deposited on the inside. When using cover-less models, these chemicals are released into the air, free for everybody inside the room to inhale.
