This is the really heavily cropped version of the adjacent photo. Comments on which crop works better, welcome.

Another play with the Lomo add-in I'm playing with in Lightroom, although with the settings low, and some softening afterwards. This shot didn't seem to lend itself to full Lomo impact.
Cockles, and muscles...

...alive, alive-oh!
Naughtily learning how far away I can be and still catch people, with the 300mm lens. I don't really approve of "spying" or "stealing" shots, but it was fun to sit in one spot on the beach for a while and see how much I could catch without either moving or being noticed!
Semi-Lomo effect is a Lightroom add-in that I'm trying out for fun. It spoils the authentic atmosphere of a sunny day on the beach but at the same time it makes a relatively flat photo more arresting.

Mike posing for one of the double-exposures I was playing with. This is absolutely as close as the 70–300mm will focus.
Polaroid fail!

First attempts at getting life from an old Polaroid didn't go so very well...
I wasn't doing so well myself having failed to observe I was still in aperture-priority mode not auto, hence the over-exposure of Mike's face. Getting to know a newish camera and a brand-new lens!
Legs together, legs together!

Double exposure theatre

My first attempt at playing with the D700's built-in double exposure capability. The auto-gain is helpful but the main lesson was to avoid overlap. I've cropped out Mike's shirt which was very distracting where the two met giving a very solid black triangle in the middle of the bottom of the frame.
