I think he feels he's slumming it a little... ;)

Silliest car ever (so far)

The "Rail" — you had to wear shades because there's no windscreen. If you wanted to go above 50mph you had to wear a bike helmet! (And it weighed next to nothing, so it got there very very quickly!) My friend Mike owned this, but at the time of this photo I was the only person who could actually get insured for it, so I drove him around a bit! The best thing was driving up the several flights of steps to park outside the 3A20 computer lab (COGS) at Sussex University. The double-takes from people looking out of their windows were priceless! Go on, view it large, see my David Hasselhoff impression!

Rattray Place fleet

Keith's brilliant early Moggy Minor, the Hillman Minx which Dave & I rescued from a technology park where it had been dumped with collapsed suspension, and Josie, my mark one Morris 1800 with amazing handling and six red leather seats — subsequently stolen from this very spot. At least it makes an authentic 1970s housing estate setting...

Hillhead - me & Josie freezing and it's only Octob…

Aberdeen in October. Nobody told me just how cold it could get!

The sisters of Merc-y

Ben (230E, later series), "Rest in pièce de résistance" (240TD), and Molly (230E, early series), all of whom managed the entire Scumrun without problems. Not bad for 30-year-old cars, especially considering Molly (the eldest) hadn't moved since the previous year's Scumrun, and ran the Nürburgring along the way! (Laptime, after the brakes faded away, was 15 minutes. None too shabby!) The 30-somethings on the human side of the team don't scrub up too badly either ;)

Classic enamel (Michelin tyre signs)

I just loved these period signs. Check out the style of the cars and van, and even the tread patterns in those tyres. This barn used to be part of a garage, but is now part of a family home, so these signs are hopefully safe for the duration.
