Landie (on his way to the Sahara) surveys a row of Toyotas in Gibraltar, presumably en route to some kind of UN project in Africa. I've since found that the Toyota dealer on the rock specialises in just that. Their brochure is serious eye-candy.
Incidentally, this Discovery has since been stolen — if you happen to see a 300Tdi that looks as though " www.aidconvoy.net " has been removed from its doors, do please let me know...

It's hard to know what to say about this. I've done the impossible, and what Jeremy Clarkson couldn't: killed a Toyota. I dearly wish this had happened in the UK so we could have had it properly investigated but the best I can do is say that a driveshaft appeared to shear clean off. Thank heavens for RAC International.
This photo is from the set "Albania — Jane's photos", all of which are from the Aid Convoy preliminary trip to Bathore / Kamza, near Tirana, Albania, where we resurrected our project there.
This set – readily identified by the lack of a black border around each photo – shows photos not taken by me, but by my colleague Jane. I don't normally upload other people's photos but these are here to complete the story when seen in conjunction with mine (with black borders), in the "Albania 2010" set.

Kamza addition

Turning up in Kamza (a.k.a. Kamez) in a Land Cruiser covered in Mongol Rally graffiti and signs was pretty sure to lead to something like this. The guys at the garage who kept an eye on it while I was in discussing European accession with the mayor (!) were full of grins when I got back. It took an hour or so before I noticed why.

At the home of the "Lord of the Manor", insofar as a descendent of a pre-communism landowner can be called that... He's transforming the place into a probably unique (locally) centre for sustainable agriculture.

Rubik, Albania

Albania's new roads are quite simply astonishing. What was once several days of journeying is now accomplished in hours. Here's a little spur near Rubik, by the old factory on the opposite bank, west of the village. Ready for more construction from the looks of it.

Shortly before the Albanian border, the Montenegrins have made their part of the shores of Lake Shkodra into a nature reserve. Ideal for over-nighting!

Land Cruiser with roof tent

First morning above the snow line. Roof tent keeps its occupants nicely cosy. It's also a near-perfect fit on this roof. I think it somehow looked more in-keeping on the Disco, but it needed a really high full roof rack there. On the LC I've gotten away with some Thule bars. Just don't ask about the weight limit. Let's just say it only allows for svelte people!
This is the start of a set of photos from Aid Convoy's 2010 Albania trip. The photos in this set were taken by my colleague Jane. I don't normally upload other people's photos, but they're here to complete the story of the trip. You can identify Jane's photos by the lack of the black border which I add to my own. My own photos from this trip are the separate "Albania 2010" set, "later" in the photostream.
If you got here by any means other than the "set", please see this set in the correct chronological order (rather than the reverse way flickr does things) by going to the set: Jane's Albania photos . Please note that my own photos from the trip are also available in another set.
