Best viewed a bit bigger. I think this is not bad at all considering the camera was a very early-generation of digital compact. Not mine, but borrowed; it gave me a healthy respect for Olympus, seeming to be pretty well designed, apart from the flash, which fell off :-/

If you have a wide enough screen, please try viewing this bigger . I hadn't even noticed until I cropped and zoomed this photo, but the small structure in the right-hand lee of the mountain (so just left of centre in this image) is in fact the top of a ROC post — a cold war era bunker, built for two or three people to live in whilst monitoring the fallout from a then-feared nuclear war. Thankfully it was deemed no longer necessary in 1991. I think the field is better off as horse-food.

Africa, viewed from Spain! This was our night-stop, a fort overlooking the Spanish enclave Ceuta, on the tip of Morocco.

Andorra. Taken with a disposable film camera. (And not cleaned up at all, hence the remaining fringing on that flag in particular. But I like it like this.)

After a long tough slog up into the mountains at night – with the cars really suffering from the altitude of 4000m, and the only respite being the amazing, occasional dimly lit by tungsten bulbs, roadside rows of sweet shops and cafés – I dove us off the road and found this little spot for the night.

If you could look both ways you really could see the entire country from here. Odd, huh?

Keen followers of my photographic equipment will be pleased to know that I've bought a hood for this lens since this shot was taken. But, nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh-nyeh, I kinda like this flare.
