Spacious parking

Cockles, and muscles...

...alive, alive-oh! Naughtily learning how far away I can be and still catch people, with the 300mm lens. I don't really approve of "spying" or "stealing" shots, but it was fun to sit in one spot on the beach for a while and see how much I could catch without either moving or being noticed! Semi-Lomo effect is a Lightroom add-in that I'm trying out for fun. It spoils the authentic atmosphere of a sunny day on the beach but at the same time it makes a relatively flat photo more arresting.

Legs together, legs together!

Black butch

I'm slightly embarrassingly rubbish at US cars, but I suspect this is an early '70s Chevy Nova... do please correct me if not.

Exotic hitching?

(Well there has to be some reason for showing so much leg! ;) )

Excellent bike show on the seafront.

Sleeping, playing, taking photos... truly versatile art!

Minis

...in fact, some of the first: Austin Sevens. London to Brighton run and Mini rally on the seafront.

The rest is just nice sunlight. Actually, the mobile phone camera failed to really get it, but the sunlight was gloriously golden, so here you go: a lost moment of January light. It's more here to document the fact that going back to Brighton for the day, and kinda forgetting to leave for the weekend, is brilliant. And I feel refreshed. And 2008 just may actually be a new year.

(don't) leave me driftwood

...on the shore (With apologies to the Moody Blues. I'm feeling a little bit like driftwood juuuuust at the moment, so this wreckage on Brighton beach yesterday is kinda appropriate.) Don't miss the kid on the springy bit. His dad is standing on the other end, holding him up. This, clearly, makes everything in the world somehow all right. :-)

Swallows, amazons

Police, thieves...

Gulls

I just love this. It cost me doughnut and a lot of patience. Try to work out how come the pier is running parallel to the coast ;-) Nikon fixed-zoom automatic (!)

Spot the original K6 and the refurbished one that wasn't always there. [/geek] Don't think it's too tricky, but just for fun, added to the "Guess where Brighton?" group. So...

evening

The view from the end of my road. (It's the seafront in Brighton.) This is entirely natural – no filter and the only Photoshopping was the removal of a scratch – it's a scan from a lab print. The fact that the Porsche is yellow helps a lot ;) Note too the old West Pier in the background — sadly no longer with us.

Collection of fun

Any colour you like, as long as it's the '70s
